How to customize your publication byline

The byline that shows up at the top of your beehiiv publication can be changed or customized right from your account. Generally, the byline is of the person that wrote or published the newsletter consisting of a profile picture and name, but you can customize the look of it.

Watch and learn: Byline Customization

Disclaimer: The beehiiv platform has evolved since the filming of this video, so parts of the user interface featured in the video will be slightly different than what you see in your account. In particular, to access the byline settings, you would go to Settings > Design Lab as reflected in the written instructions below.

How to customize your publication byline

  1. From the lefthand panel in your account, go to Settings > Design Lab.

  2. When the Design Lab opens, first click the access arrow next to Background to close it. Then, scroll down to Email Header and click on its access arrow to open it.

  3. In the Email Header section, scroll down to Byline where you can check or uncheck the option to have your author links underlined. Adjust the Font family, Accent color, Font size, Avatar size, Vertical spacing, Font weight, Date format, and check if you want to show the reading time on the page. If so, then you can also adjust the Reading time font color and Reading time label.
